On the evening of Saturday 16th March, Leiden piano shop Emile van Leenen Piano’s en Vleugels will open its doors for Klassiek Concert: Brahms, Schumann, Strauss. Performed by classical pianist Tamas Matimba and soprano Sheila Conolly, expect to be taken on a musical journey through the lives and emotions of three paramount classical composers. Whether it’s Schuman’s vibrant youth and optimism, Brahms’ intimate intermezzi or Strauss’ sorrowful last songs, these masterpieces intricately weave the profound essence of these musical geniuses, promising an evening of unparalleled artistic depth and emotional resonance.
Tamas has been playing and performing piano for nearly 20 years and currently resides in Zeeland. Alongside teaching piano lessons, he is known for organising monthly concerts from the comfort of his home studio. He has made appearances at several events across the region ranging from choir accompaniment and local festivals. Sheila is an accomplished soprano with experience in various styles of classical music. She has sung in several operas including Rigoletto and Macbeth and performed a leading role in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ under the leadership of Kenneth Montgomery, alongside appearances at the Royal Albert Hall and de Doelen. The programme seeks to combine the passions of Tamas and Sheila.
Doors will open 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of 19.30 and the concert will last approximately 70 minutes. There will be no intermission or refreshments provided. At the end of the concert, there will be an opportunity for audience members to talk with performers Mr. Matimba and Ms. Conolly.
